Suni Mullen is an American writer, editor, and curator, living in Los Angeles. Her writing has appeared on the cover of CR Fashion Book for Telfar and multiple blog posts for BLAK KANVAS Studio. Mullen is the author of Residency Documents, a series of downloadable PDFs for artists to canon themselves from a stronger foundation. Recently, Mullen published, PROPERLY, AMERICAN: THE GENIUS EFFECT AND “THE POSTURE OF OPENNESS” BLACK, FEMALE, AND ACADEMIC —- AN EARTHQUAKE IN WHITENESS.
Mullen has activated herself in the spaces of critical thought and complex compositions of blackness as it relates to the lingua. She completed a year of being a mentor at Otis College of Art and Design lending her services to curating exhibitions, and allocating time to answering questions about the university experience. Previously, Mullen wrote, edited, and reformatted biographies and CVs for national and international artists as an intern at Gavlak Gallery. Mullen maintained artists' files and invested time in extensive research at OCHI. Continuing through the Spring, Mullen worked with the Student Learning Center as a Writing Tutor editing statements, biographies, essays, and resumes until graduation. To strengthen her ability to form and think through ideas, Mullen will maintained the position of the Fine Arts Student Curator until through Spring 2023. Mullen will continue writing during her Master's studies at The Royal College of Art in London, UK. |
