As we enter into the new year, we would like to reflect on the accomplishments of BLAK KANVAS during the ladder part of 2019. On November 23, 2019, BLAK KANVAS showcased a total of six new and original pieces at Post & Beam. The restaurants' Artistic Director, Tyler Crosby presented BLAK KANVAS with six hand stretched canvases as Post & Beam invited original work to be installed.
For two and a half months a series of work was created in order to represent the Los Angeles experience through shareable stories the artist is able to communicate.
A week prior to the 23rd of November, BLAK KANVAS transported the six pieces to Post & Beam and worked with Chef John Cleveland to get an idea on how the installation process would take place. Tyler Crosby arrived to aide in installing the pieces and accommodating the pieces to the space. We wanted the pieces to easily be seen by guests as they enjoyed their wine tasting and dinner pairing with Zuri Wine Tasting for the upcoming weekend.
On the day, Zuri Wine Tasting hosted a wine pairing with an exclusive 4 course dinner curated by Chef John Cleveland. Iris Rideau joined Zuri Wine, offering wine from her private collection complimenting the evenings' dinner.
BLAK KANVAS partnered with Xceptional Studios to create an artist brochure. We ensured detailed photos were included, with titles and prices of all works displayed. The brochure shared About the Artist and a synopsis of what the pieces represented. Guests shared their favorites amongst one another in addition to asking the artist about pieces and the inspiration behind each one.
We would like to extend a very warm thank you to Post & Beam for entrusting BLAK KANVAS with such an amazing task. Los Angeles: shareable stories is seasonally on view. Join Post & Beam for brunch and their daily Happy Hour.
