Wine & Whiskey
I've created a new tonic. I have yet to meet someone who casually mixes wine and whiskey, but I began to for my events and it has been a hit. People deserve to feel good: If ever you find yourself in a position where you can make many people feel good- do so.
For the month of October, original work by BLAK KANVAS will be installed at Reparations Club in Mid City Los Angeles. This is yet again, another great milestone and accomplishment. The pieces reflect self-portraits entwined with an array of colors.
Having work installed walking distance from where I used to grow up makes me feel so good inside. Reparations Club is a necessity in the Mid City community. Jazzi is the owner of a space that reflects Blackness in a high form- in every corner of the store and community space, you see pieces of you, who you aspire to be like, and a corner to learn something new.
BLAK KANVAS collaborated with Reparations Club to repurpose the painting "Mating Season," in the form of Stationary Cards- available for purchase within the store. The stationary cards are amongst other great original works by various Black artists.
The opening ceremony to "SiSTARS" was especially gratifying. Before the evening concluded, an exclusive short screening aired for guests. The short is less than two minutes and encompasses some of the warmth we feel when with our family and friends- the audio kept original and candid conversations, singing, and laughing. For a viewing, feel free to email BLAK KANVAS.
Goals can be met- you just have to set them. I am grateful for Reparations Club and their efforts to collaborate with those from the area and their desire to fellowship with creators and those aspiring to be someone bigger. Tho goal is to be a better me- the best me.
