Blak Kanvas met with guests, family, and friends within the past week. During the past two weeks, Blak Kanvas was able to hold a handful of candid conversations about the installation.
From the artist:
Initially, I had so many expectations- then, I decided to remain present. Opening and sharing my craft I have discovered that it is extremely vulnerable no matter what stage you are in. People will inquire, ask, comment, share, and quietly observe. Often, it can be intimidating- but always I am honored.
“The Other: An Unpopular Opinion,” is an ode to myself, my sister, and my Mother. From start to finish, I am overcoming fear for not only myself, but for those that may think showcasing your work and creating is out of reach. The journey is never as seamless as it may seem. To endlessly create new bodies of work is a beautiful war: to endlessly create new bodies of work for viewing, is a humbling stump.
Every time someone would send me a photos of themselves with my work, so much joy would fill me. It’s not surreal- it’s real.
Here's a glance at the past couple of weeks:
There are no rules when it comes to you and what you decide to do when creating. You are the master of all crafts- a vessel to showcase.
I am the greatest me and best me to ever produce my original works.
